DocuSlim
PROBLEM SOLUTION
I have no idea what DocuSlim is doing since it doesn't give me an up-to-date progress bar. Reduce your QuarkXPress window to the right side of the screen. Then you should be able to see PhotoShop working in the background. Don't switch to PhotoShop during the processing as this may cause DocuSlim to lose it's inter-application link.
I just upgraded DocuSlim and my PhotoShop now crashes when it's optimizing. Delete your DocuSlim preferences and make sure not to use ".op" as a prefix. We changed the default to _op instead and that make PhotoShop happier.
I just upgraded to PhotoShop 6 and now my clipping path is no longer valid after DocuSlim. This is either Adobe's or Quark's problem. Try saving any EPS out of PhotoShop 6 with a clipping path. Now try using that path in Quark 4.1. You'll see it's been grayed out. Sorry, until fixed by one of them we're stuck!
I'm using PhotoShop 6.0 and DocuSlim now seems to hang up. If you are using the LZW options in DocuSlim, you will need to first set the proper Saving preferences in PhotoShop so it doesn't bring up the LZW dialog. This will be fixed automatically in DocuSlim 2.0.
